After 26 years of being the director of camp Wendell White has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2007. Rosanne White plans to remain in her position as registrar and trainer of the summer kitchen staff. Wendell is pursuing work in administrative law with the Child and Family Services Review Board adjudicating several pieces of provincial legislation. The camping community will always be near and dear to his heart and not far from his current new home located on highway 62.
The Summer Director - Trevor White
Trevor
White is a graduate (2006) from Algonquin College in Ottawa. He
graduated in Recreation and Facilities Management where he completed
his program with a work term at Camp Kawartha.
Trevor has considerable experience in the camping
community and in particular with Camp Quin-Mo-Lac. He was a camper
followed by being a Counsellor-In-Training. After two years of
volunteering, Trevor was accepted on staff as a staff counsellor.
Gaining considerable experience and certification in the rockwall
climbing area and ORCA canoe certification, he accepted a program
position with camp. With his wealth of experience and expertise,
Trevor accepted the position Counsellor-In-Training Director during
the 2003 year. This program was designed to train 33 young people
to concepts directly related to the care and custody of children.
During the 2004 season, Trevor was selected to be one of two Assistant
Directors. In this capacity, he was responsible for the supervision
and management of 75 staff and volunteers.
In 2005 Trevor accepted a position at Taylor Statten
Camp, Camp Ahmek as a high ropes instructor. This experience gave
him a new perspective on camping.
Trevor White was selected to be the first Summer Director for
the summer of 2006. With an outstanding group of staff counsellors,
program staff and volunteers, he has lead his staff to an incredibly
successful summer.
